OUR APPROACH TO SUSTAINABILITY

A Journey of Commitment

At Timperio, we believe that sustainability is a journey, not just targets and numbers. We recognize that our customers, suppliers, farmers, and community are concerned not only about our business, but also about how we do business. We started this journey back in 1943, and we continue it with a focus on the environmental impact of everything we do.

SDG

Timperio supports the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), prioritizing SDGs 2, 9, and 12. To contribute to SDG 2, we source olives from local farmers at fair prices and incentivize organic practices by supporting their efforts toward sustainable farming. For SDG 9, we invest in advanced production technologies, such as our state-of-the-art Scorpion V24 decanter centrifuge. To support SDG 12, we focus on reducing our environmental footprint by implementing energy-efficient processes and minimizing water usage in our production facilities.

2024 Sustainability Snapshot

HOW WE REDUCE OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Timperio has made steady strides in the area of environmental sustainability. In our effort to reduce carbon emissions in the short, medium, and long term, we have invested in state-of-the-art production plants, first in 2004 and then in 2017. These new-generation milling machines use up to 20% less energy and water compared to the older models they replaced. In 2024, we will welcome a revamped production plant, centered around the replacement of our current Scorpion version 5.9 with the cutting-edge V56.3 decanter centrifuge. This major upgrade will enable us to significantly reduce mains water usage, thereby minimizing the vegetable water to discard, and reduce our carbon footprint thanks to much lower electricity usage during production.
23% reduction in water usage per kilogram of olives processed.
30% reduction in electricity consumption per kilogram of olives processed.
